HAVE YOU TRIED THE RUN WALK METHOD?
Trimoot and Myself have started applying this method of training to our long runs in hopes of increasing mileage while reducing the risk of injury.
Last saturday we did a 15.23 mile run breaking it up into 4 minute runs, then 30 second walks. We did this for the duration of the training session and finished out with a 9:05 pace and had a lot left in the tank. The great thing about it was the recovery time was greatly reduced and minimized. trimoot is shooting to qualify for Boston I just want to get my First marathon under my belt. We have the Windermere Marathon on May 16th so I will continue to keep you posted on how its going.
If you want to check out this method yourself go the the Links and look
at the Jeff Galloway Injury free marathon triaining site.
So far I am impressed!!

I’d like to pass on something I’ve learned from a fellow long distance runner, and it has to do with supplements. In a nut shell, using BCAA (Branch Chain Amino Acids), L-Glutamine, and Protein powder mixed together with water and consumed within 30 minutes of a completed run or workout will help considerably with recovery. You can continue using the BCAA and L-Glutamine through out the week to help with further recovery.

UP FOR SOME SPEEDIER WORK THIS SPRING?
Here is another opportunity to help with your training. Starting Tuesday, March 17th at 6:00 pm, speed work training starts at the SCC track. It’s free and you don’t have to know anything about speed work. It is facilitated by coach Dori, who provides information about the benefits of “speedier” work and the workout plans to improve run times. If you’ve not tried this type of training, consider giving it a whirl.
