…..In Florida

Hey Runners,

There are few things better than getting out of a perfectly warm bed, putting on layer upon layer of running gear and gathering with other simple minded folk to walk, run or jog along the picturesque Spokane River…on a Saturday…THIS Saturday…at 9 stinkin AM!.
We’ll plan to launch from my place until further notice.
Warm coffee, cocoa, cider and/or tea will be served along with anything else you want to bring.

Feliz navidad, tina

Formula for improving your running this winter: Run, run, repeat!

Hebrews 10: 23-25
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together…but let us encourage one another.

Tina

Running is a whole body working in unity through diversity endeavor. What does that mean? Well lets look at it, Our legs provide a obvious function, as well as our hearts, but they are completely different Jobs, But without our hearts we dont provide oxygen to the legs and they are ineffective, or try running with you arms still at your side, what about the lungs, eyes, even our ears….and of course our minds. How much more difficult it becomes when we try to use only part of the diverse functions our physical beings provide when we set out on our runs or what ever else we do.

Like running, Paul in Romans 12 likens Christians to a body, each of us bringing a different function or Gift to the body, each of us important to God for doing his work, and togeather we create the Body of Christ funtioning in UNITY IN DIVERSITY for Gods will. If one of us chooses to not use our gifts, its just like running while holding your breath, we greatly hinder the ability of the Body to function as God has intended for us. OK dident mean to get preachy here, just food for thought from todays PB&J (prayer Bible and Journal)

Run Happy, Keep smiling and Praising the Lord

We will be meeting once again, (we…well i mean you, as i will be strangely absent again this week, one more week of drama rehearsals then i will be back with you all) but as i was saying meet up at Tina’s again at 9:00 and be prepared to discuss future options on where we would like to meet up next. we have several things on the drawing board, we can either contiue to meet at Tinas, or they have finished the paving and trail head for the fish lake trail at Government Way and Sunset, we had talked about running the Indian Canyon and Rimrock area during December, but we dont have the snow yet so I was thinkin of saving that until it snows because of how well it gets groomed, but still very low traffic. Or if anyone would like to host for awhile at their home and have good routes available let us know that, or any ideas that you would like to throw into the pot also.

Anyway so for this week at Tina’s, and were (your) doing a snack pot luck, warm beverages will be provided just bring some yummy (seasonal?) running munchies, oh and hey, dont forget a friend, or neighbor, or family member….etc.

THANKS GIVING MORNING NOV 26, 9:00 AM

MANITO DUCK POND

FOOD DONATION FOR SECOND HARVEST

Once again its time for the group to meet up for this Annual event, of course the first thought is lets burn some calories so we can gorge ourselves later that day, which is profound in itself.  But what about the great fellowship, and the chance to help our community with the food donations.

Matthew 25:34-36 (New International Version)

34“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

SO lets make a strong showing as a group and meet up near the restroom right next to the duck pond and bring your donations. I hope to see lots of you there.

ANSWER……THE RUNNING GROUP PLANS FOR THIS WEEKEND, SAT NOV 21ST

Were mixing it up a little, Some of us will be participating in the Jingle Bell Run Downtown to help raise money for the Arthritis Foundation. http://spokanejinglebellrun.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=308513 We will start by meeting at Tina’s and be ready to leave no later than 8:30 to do a light warm up down to Riverfront Park to be ready for race start by 9:00 AM.  I would encourage anyone who can to come run with bells on, and dont forget the crazy hats too.

For those who dont want to hang out with a bunch of ding-a-lings Paul AKA Trimoot will be leading the rest of the group from Tina’s at the regular time and place for a beautiful time along the centennial trail.

Then afterwords we will all meet back at the house for a Mexi breakfast, ahhh i know you were wondering where the spicy food came in wernt ya?

Saturday: A slight chance of rain and snow before 10am, then a slight chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

“My Grace is sufficient for you,  for my power is made perfect in weakness”  Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness so that Christs power may rest on me….for when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Cor 9-10

What we have,  Our physical selves, our abilities to go out there and in this case run, are gifts from God. All the training, all the effort, all the work we do is because of his power, its not of ourselves. We must remember to give Thanks to him and to let our love of running be a worship to him. When we rely on him for strength and relize our own weakness then his love can and will spill out through us into the community where we train.

Thank you Jesus for my abilities and may I use them for your work and Glory.

We met this week for the first annual 5k PUMKIN PACER halloween costume race in Deer Park WA. on halloween itself. WHAT A BLAST THAT WAS!!! Check out the group that showed up below,  SCARY arnt they? imagine if they had dressed up HA HA HAJacksparrow and group

There were probably a couple hundred or more people participating in the event, dressed in various creatures, characters and some as themselves OHHHH creeepy. There were telitubbies, Zombies, Surgeons, super heros, the whole gambit of oddities there, It was such a riot. Tina was laughing constantly at all the great costumes. We had great weather for the time of year, Sunny, cool and at times windy, but considering the storm we had the night before we couldent of asked for better.

The race directors handed out all kinds of swag in the way of door prizes and best costume prizes, some very cool stuff, from some very cool sponsers, thank you to all who contributed.  I managed to squeek by the awesome snake charmer in a final walk off between the two of us to win first place in the adult male best costume prize, whew, thats me as Jack Sparrow in case you dident put that togeather.JackSparrow walk off[1]

I got a great prize of a gift card to Clinerdaggers and a pair of Smart Wool socks, very cool, pretty good for going to Value Village the day before to put my costume togeater dont you think? Check out some of the other costumes in the back ground.

Over all it was a great day and way too much fun with lots of great comradery from all the participants and organizers. Looking forward to doing it again next year. Hummm Maybe I should start on next years costume now after all I have a title to defend, HA HA I finally won something at a race!! YOOO HOOOO. Yeah like thats going to happen, i will be panicing again the day before just like this year. The best intensions always go awry.

I hope more of you can join us next year, the more the merrier as they say.

Well signing off for now
